About the Partners
Philip Whittaker and April Whittam, both partners in Strategy House are proven marketing practitioners and recognised leaders in the field.
Philip Whittaker is the immediate outgoing National President of Sponsorship Australasia Association and on the editorial board of the International Journal of Sponsorship and is a Certified Practising Marketer. Over his career Philip has raised more than $50m in sponsorship sales within Australia and has consulted with many of Australia’s leading sports, arts, entertainment and leisure properties. These include (but are not limited to) Goodwill Games, Suncorp Stadium, World Athletics Championships Bid – Brisbane, Western Bulldogs AFL Club, Brisbane Festival, Australian Institute of Sport, Surf Lifesaving Australia, Melbourne Recital Centre, V8 Supercars and Warner Village Theme Parks. Conversely, Philip has also consulted to leading Australian and international corporate brands including Suncorp, Sanctuary Cove, Energex, QR, ANSVAR Insurance, Stockland, Lihir Gold and Warner Bros. Entertainment to name just a few.
April Whittam is just as active in the industry and currently sits on the Queensland Committee of Sponsorship Australasia Association and has been published in the Journal of Sponsorship regarding the current state of the Australian sponsorship market. She has been involved in both sides of the sponsorship industry, from selling to managing. April has managed leading financial services sponsorship portfolios, as well as major events marketing, sponsorship and brand marketing.
She has been the Director of Consulting at Repucom International and conducted extensive evaluations that serviced both leading brands and rights-holders, including Westpac, Motorola, Federal Government’s 2007 APEC Taskforce, AFL, NGV, Department of Community Safety (QLD Govt), Department of Transport, Coca Cola and Virgin Blue. More recently April was the General Manager, Strategy and Marketing at International Quarterback and consulted into companies on sponsorship strategy to leading brands and rights holders including Bank of Queensland, Fosters Group, Suncorp, Qld Rail, Magic Millions and Surfing Australia. April also lecturers and tutors in sponsorship and events marketing at the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology.
